Michael Keane provides early diagnostic assessments for infants and preschool-aged children, using best-practice clinical approaches.
The Assessment Process:
Background Information
Initial phone consultation with parents.
Parents receive information forms for both home and preschool/day-care to complete.
This includes forms which identify autism traits and examine adaptive functioning.
Child Assessment
Conducted at Michael’s Kilbarrack office.
Uses ADOS (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule).
Always involves two clinicians (psychologist plus SLT or OT).
For younger children, parents remain present during the session.
Parent Interview
ADI-R (Autism Diagnostic Interview – Revised) carried out in-office or via Zoom.
Verbal feedback is typically provided at this stage.
Report & Recommendations
A detailed clinical report is prepared and emailed to parents, 6 -8 weeks after the assessment has been completed.
Includes recommendations for home, preschool supports, and onward referrals.
Follow-up discussion offered to review results and implications.
If required for preschool placement or services, a confirmation letter of diagnosis can be provided before the full report, with any necessary placement recommendation included.
Additional Notes:
Where global developmental delay is indicated, a separate cognitive assessment may be carried out or recommended at a later stage.
The process takes time due to multiple stages and high demand for clinical services.
Fees:
ASD Assessment (Infants/Preschoolers): €1,500
ASD + Cognitive Assessment: €1,750
Payment is staged (€300 at ADOS, €500 at ADI-R, remainder on report).
Payment accepted by bank transfer to Bank of Ireland, Revolut transfer to Bank of Ireland, or cash.
